Glasstire, an online Texas visual arts magazine, recently named the Old Jail Art Center one of the best regional museums in Texas.

“It’s always nice for the museum to be recognized in any way,” said Old Jail Art Center executive director Patrick Kelly.

The article mentioned some of Glasstire’s favorite small town museums across the state of Texas, with the Old Jail Art Center on the list.

Kelly was happy with the free exposure that came with the article.

“Any free publicity that we get is always beneficial to us,” said Kelly. “It can sometimes be hard to get publicity and recognition since we are located in a small rural area. Being recognized like this can help to attract visitors and get attention.”

The Old Jail Art Center is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Current exhibitions include René Treviño: A New Codex, Nick Bontrager: Survival, and Bale Creek Allen: My America. All three exhibits will run through Aug. 24.
