OJAC schedules Family Festival, Hearts for Arts

Renovations at the Old Jail Art Center are in full swing as the month of February begins, with a reopening date of Feb. 13, but with a Family Festival scheduled Feb. 10, the museum stafft is having to make some alternative plans.

The Old Jail has been closed to the public since Jan. 6 for planned renovations in some of the galleries, removing carpet and replacing it with concrete.

AccordingtoOJACexecutive director Patrick Kelly, the new concrete flooring will create more versatility for sculpture installation, address stability issues for installations, and match the interior aesthetics of the newer OJAC additions.

With the floors nearing completion at press time, members of the staff plan to be repainting and refreshing the galleries by the end of this week.

The Old Jail’s family festivals are free and open to the public.

Another upcoming festival, Baba Marta, celebrating spring in the Balkans, has been scheduled for March 2.
