Old Jail Art Center patrons are slowly getting back to visiting the museum in person, but the staff still has many virtual opportunities available for those who like to visit from home.

The OJAC staff is preparing kits  to be mailed to registrants that have signed up for summer camp in August.

The kits will include supplies and materials for campers to participate weekly in the virtual student program.

All summer student programs are provided free of charge for children in the first through sixth grade.

The deadline to enroll has passed, due to the limited number of spots and time constraints in mailng the kits of supplies.

Students that missed the sign-up date still have many opportunities for other educational virtual programs that are posted on the OJAC’s website or social media platforms each week.

OJAC education director Erin Whitmore said this week is “National Week of the Cowboy,” and Art@Home trunk kits, #StayHomeStudio, and OJAC Tiny Tour are all three coordinated to the cowboy theme.

“We have horse and ‘branding’ crafts in the trunk for the kids to pick up,” Whitmore said. “At home do-it yourself leather crafting for teens and adults, as well as the Tiny Tour this week, will explore the Lariat from the Sallie Reynolds Matthews Collection.”

The OJAC has a different activity Monday through Friday posted on the website at www.theojac.org or on the OJAC Facebook page.

OJAC in-person hours are Monday though Saturday, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
