OJAC class space limited

Aspiring young artists entering first through 12th grades can attend various art camps at the Old Jail Art Center this summer and learn about recycling, Italy, puppets, and/or creating artwork from various media. 

All classes, including supplies, are free, but space is limited, so early registration is encouraged and is already underway for all the classes.

Italy

On Friday, Aug. 3, up to 30 participants in first through sixth grades will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to focus on the music, food, and art of Italy. 

Students need to bring a bag lunch to the free Cultural Connections: Italy! workshop.

Puppet Workshop

Children in grades one through six will create their own one-of-a-kind kinetic artwork at the puppet workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 7 and 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. 

Students must attend both days of Things on Strings. Class limit is 30, and this is the most popular camp, so people are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Teen Workshop

Students will create artwork using a variety of media at this year’s Teen Workshop: Inspired by Helen Altman. 

Altman is this summer’s Cell Series artist. 

The workshop takes place on Friday, Aug. 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The class is designed for students in grades eight through 12 and is limited to 20 participants.

Lunch will be provided.

Re-Create!

The Re-Create! workshop takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 15. 

Registration is limited to 30 students, and fourth through seventh graders should bring a brown bag lunch to the art workshop. 

Students will create art using recycled and repurposed materials.

The free class begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.

Classes fill on a first come, first served basis. 

Parents are urged to contact the Old Jail Art Center with any cancellations so that students on waiting lists can be contacted.
