The annual field day for Nancy Smith Elementary School preschool through sixth grade students returns this year and is set for Monday, May 24 at the City Park.

Students will begin being bused to the park at 9:00 a.m. with events starting afterward, according to NSES administrative assistant Stephanie Gleitz.

Events for the students will include sack races, hurdles, tug-of-war, water kickball, and water relay.

Students will participate in field events only,  as no running events are scheduled this year because of the change in location from the high school track to the park.

There will be no early dismissal, and students will be released from the elementary school campus at the regular times.

Parents and other volunteers will be needed during the day, and more information concerning signups will be released prior to the field day.

The elementary school will not host a pool day prior to the end of the year.

End of Year Activities

STAAR testing will take place for third through eighth grade on May 11-12, and fifth grade will continue to test on May 13.

First and second graders will take a trip to the Abilene Zoo on Thursday, May 13, and fourth graders will visit the Perot Museum on Thursday, May 20.

Early release days at 12:30 p.m. are scheduled for NSES students on May 25-27.
