The deadline for participants from the 2023 Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show to fulfill their obligations is swiftly approaching.

Exhibitors must have completed writing thank you notes to buyers and other obligations by Saturday, April 1.

Show participants must place their finished notes in a stamped, addressed envelope ready for mailing. Notes must be verified by Albany FFA adviser Chris Beard or Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell.

Bell said FFA and 4-H members who sold animals have received their lists of buyers who will receive the notes.

All outstanding balances owed to the Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association, Albany FFA, or Shackelford County 4-H must be paid. Also, any students who fed animals at the FFA barn must clean their pens. Failure to satisfy either requirement by April 1 will result in checks being withheld.

Students owing money to the Albany FFA Livestock Scholarship Fund must have that paid by Wednesday, April 12. Payments may be made by check or cash.

Stock show checks will be distributed Thursday, April 13 at the Depot.

Scholarship Applications

Applications for the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show and the Monte Lewis Memorial scholarships are also due by April 1. High school seniors may pick up application forms from their FFA or 4-H adviser.

Applications must be turned in to Jenny Scott in the high school library by the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

Stock Show Meeting

The Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association annual meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at the Albany High School ag building.

Organizers will discuss this year’s show and proposed rule changes.
