With no contested races as of Tuesday, residents only have two more days to toss their hats into the local political ring for several local elections to be decided May 6.

The Albany and Moran ISD trustee elections and both Albany and Moran city councils had drawn full slates of candidates as of Tuesday, with one or more positions still lacking candidates on the other two boards with terms expiring for the election.

Without a contested race thus far, all six boards are looking at the possibility of being able to cancel their elections.

Candidates have only until this Friday, Feb. 17 to have their names placed on the ballots for any of the local elections, which includes positions for both Albany and Moran school boards and city councils, along with the Shackelford County Hospital District and the Fort Griffin Special Utility District.

Albany School Board

All three incumbents on the Albany ISD board have filed for three-year terms, including Robert Montgomery, Ginny Ivy, and recent appointee Bo Brown.

Applications to file for the election are available in the superintendent’s office.

Albany City Council

Albany mayor Susan Mongomery and incumbent city council members Lynsi Musselman and Don Taggart are the only other county candidates as of Tuesday’s press deadline.

Applications for the election are available at City Hall. For more information about the two-year, at-large terms, contact the city office at 325-762-3133.

Hospital Board

Three of the four incumbent directors, including Kraymer Harbold who was appointed to an unexpired one-year term on the Shackelford County Hospital District, have picked up filing packets, but had not returned them as of Tuesday afternoon.

Other hospital board incumbents are Leslie Belcher, Jo Ann Estridge, and Mike Folsom.

Full terms are two years.

Petitions, which must be signed by at least 10 registered county voters, are available at the district’s office in the EMS building. Contact Regina Whitt for more information at 325-762-3313.

Moran School Board

Incumbents Gary Roan and James Shelton have filed for the two terms expiring this spring on the Moran ISD board of trustees.

Candidates can fill in superintendent’s office during regular school hours. Call 325-945-3101 for more information.

Moran City Council

All incumbents for the Moran city council filed Tuesday night, including appointee Tyler George for mayor, which is an unexpired term, and council members Christal Herrell, Tyler Kinman, and Gene Thompson.

Anyone with questions can contact the Moran City office on weekday mornings at 325-945-3441.

Fort Griffin SUD

Jimmie Ann “Sug” Roller is the only one of three incumbents on the board of the Fort Griffin SUD to file as of Tuesday.

Other current directors whose three-year terms expire this year are Ben Hale and Robert Montgomery.

To sign up, contact Carrie Holson at 325-762-2575.
