No Chamber lunch Friday

The regular Chamber of Commerce noon luncheon this Friday has been cancelled, with members and others encouraged to support the Albany Kiwanis Club fajita lunch at noon that day.

Current Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones said this week that conflicts with the Kiwanis fundraiser and other homecoming activities resulted in the decision.

Position Open

Chamber directors have started the process of seeking a replacement for Jones, who has taken another job and will only be in the office until the end of this month.

Chamber president Ramby Anderson said Tuesday that resumés will be accepted until Oct. 31 by sending them to chamber@albanytexas.com.

Questions can be directed to that email address as well.

Depending on applicants and experience, the Chamber board will decide whether the position will be part time or full time, Anderson said.

Downtown

Trick or Treat

Downtown merchants have voted to hand out candy on Wednesday, Oct. 26, the same date as the Trunk or Treat event at Friendship Baptist.

Merchants, along with other organizations, will be on the sidewalks in front of their businesses from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 26.
