News deadlines announced
Albany News publisher Donnie Lucas announced this week that there will not be an edition published on Dec. 31 during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
“We’ve decided to take that week off and be able to enjoy our family more during the holidays,” said Lucas.
This is only the fourth time in 44 years of Lucas ownership that there hasn’t been a weekly paper.
“We wanted everyone to know a few weeks ahead of time so that any notices or ads can be accommodated,” Lucas said, “and it has been documented with the post office as a requirement of our second class mailing permit.”
The News office will be open on Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 28-30 of that week. The office will close all day on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 and on Friday, Jan. 1.
Lucas also mentioned that the deadline for the following week will be moved back a full day because of the Christmas print schedule.
The normal Tuesday noon deadline will change to Monday, Dec. 21 in order to get that edition printed and mailed on time.
