The Moran School District will begin the new year with four new faculty members, John Hughes, Robert Londerholm, Elizabeth Martin, and Betty Galvan. In addition, veteran teacher Jo Hise will assume the role of principal.

“We are excited about the beginning of another school year with several new educators and students as well,” said MISD superintendent Danny Freeman.

John Hughes

John Hughes is the new athletic director and the head football coach.

“He comes to us after coaching in Rochelle last year and is in his 21st year as a public school educator,” Freeman said. “He is married to April, who is a teacher in Breckenridge, and he has two boys, Bryce who is a junior at UNT, and Braden, who will be a freshman at Angelo State.”

Hughes is a graduate of Venus High School and earned his bachelor of science degree in exercise and sports studies from Tarleton State University.

Rob Londerholm

Rob Londerholm will teach secondary science and coach basketball at Moran this year.

“Rob is an 18-year teaching veteran,” said Freeman. “He and his wife Deloris have been a part of Shackelford County for some time. They have three sons, Tom, Rob, and Stephen.”

Elizabeth Martin

Elizabeth Martin, a 2015 graduate of Moran ISD, has recently been hired as a girls assistant coach/teacher.

“Elizabeth will be joining our team as soon as she makes the move back home from Canyon,” said Freeman.

Martin graduated from West Texas A&M with a degree in psychology in May. She is the daughter of Lanham and Holly Martin of Moran.

Betty Galvan

Betty Galvan will be joining the Moran ISD school family as a paraprofessional.

Galvan has 27 years of experience in area public school systems, and most recently worked with the East End Educational Coop.

She and her husband Macario have seven children.

Jo Hise

Jo Hise recently earned her Master of Science degree, and she obtained her principal certificate this May.

“I hadn’t planned on it (being a principal),” she said, “but God opened the door. It will be different, challenging, and exciting.”
