New NHS members to be inducted

The Albany Chapter of the National Honor Society will induct 17 new members this Sunday.

A recognition ceremony for the new members will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Albany High School auditorium.

AISD students chosen to be honored with induction into the National Honor Society this year are Ana Balliew, Kamryn Browning, Susie Cormack, Sarah Cotter, Addie Denton, Ty Everitt, Clara Holson, Luke Ivy, Avery Kleiner, Caitlan Lee, Allison Lemond, Ryan Mark, Teri McFerrin, Brooks Neece, Cade Neve, Corbin Roberts, and Ryder Wilkins.

Current officers of the Albany NHS will be conducting the induction ceremony.

Officers are president Hannah Trail, vice president Tana Thompson, secretary Blanton Belcher, treasurer Morgan Garcia, and reporter Jackson Chapman.

Additional current NHS members include Sidney Bartee, Landree Connally, Carli Edgar, Torie Fuentes, Elia Hebel, Alli Hill, Amber Leverton, Cydney Nelson, Paige Picquet, Hannah Snyder, and William Webb. 

Jenny Scott and Michaela Bradford sponsor the local chapter of the NHS. 

Invitation into the National Honor Society requires students to display scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Members must earn six hours of service per semester and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Leadership experience is required and can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

Student must demonstrate high standards of honesty and reliability, show courtesy, concern, and respect for others, be cooperative, and maintain a clean disciplinary record.

Students who meet the scholarship requirement have an opportunity to complete a form detailing their accomplishments in and commitment to service, leadership, and character.

NHS members are expected to volunteer in their community.
