Albany’s Kenzie Neve brought home an armful of awards from the Arizona National Livestock Show, held Dec. 27-31 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix.

Neve, an Albany High School sophomore, claimed the grand champion intermediate cattle showman prize for the second year in a row.

“There were something like 80 exhibitors in her division, so that was pretty fun,” Neve’s mother, Leslie, said.

Neve also placed well with two steers. She had the reserve champion British breed with her Shorthorn cross and placed second with her crossbred prospect steer.

Her prospect steer, which had to weigh between 350 pounds and 999 pounds for the Arizona National, is being groomed for next year’s major shows.

Neve will exhibit the Shorthorn at the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City and the National Western Livestock Show in Denver. She also has animals entered for shows in Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston.
