Musselman joins Albany News as advertising director

After her first appearance at The Albany News almost five years ago, Lynsi Musselman is returning in a part-time role as director of advertising.

Musselman is stepping into the position that has been filled by Ginger Bartee for the past seven years. She was hired recently by new owner and publisher David Waller.

In addition to working with advertisers, Musselman may also occasionally assist with writing articles.

The Abilene resident moved to Albany in March of 2020 with her husband, Albany native James Musselman, and their two daughters, Mae (now 11) and Elizabeth (now 8). A few weeks later, she began working as a writer for Donnie and Melinda Lucas at The Albany News. In October, she took a job as payroll clerk and secretary to the Albany ISD superintendent, where she has been ever since.

Musselman dove right into life in Albany and is active as a Chamber of Commerce director, Albany city council member, and Albany Live treasurer, as well as helping her daughters with stock show projects and other endeavors.

A graduate of Wylie High School in Abilene, Lynsi attended Texas Tech University, finishing with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

“Most of my professional career was in banking and sales, as well as at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene,” Musselman said. “I am excited to return to the Albany News part-time, and I look forward to helping the Wallers with their era of this historic venture.”

She will continue full-time at the school and will work part-time at the newspaper.
