Despite the weather, the OJAC is offering a free art activity kit again his week, with children ages four to 12 invited to make a dream ladder toy.

Kits are available from the special activity trunk outside of the museum gate through Sunday, Feb. 21.

Each week, the OJAC has kits for new types of crafts in the trunk.

The activities combine visual art with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with motor-skill development, and social studies or language arts themes.

All kits are available 24/7 in the trunk located at the front gates of the OJAC Sculpture Courtyard so no interaction with museum staff is required.

OJAC staff does ask that the craft kits be limited to one kit per child.

Completed projects can be submitted to the OJAC by using the tag #athomewithojac.

Member Appreciation

February is member appreciation month at the Old Jail Art Center, and there are some special opportunities available to OJAC members.

OJAC members will receive free giveaways during their visit to the museum, and they will receive a 20 percent discount off of one item in the OJAC store.

“Our members play an integral role in allowing the OJAC to provide art for all that is free for all,” said membership and development coordinator Susan Montgomery. “This is the month to say ‘thank you’ to all our members for their support throughout the year. Our members and their support are very important to us and have been the backbone of our success for the past 40 years.”

Memberships to the OJAC range from $25 for an individual membership to $1,500 for a sustainer membership.
