Murk earns Cisco award

Emily Murk of Moran, daughter of Melissa Murk, was presented the President’s Outstanding Student Award as the top student in the Cisco College Theatre Department at a banquet April 22 at the Cisco campus.

An Education and Theatre major, Emily was presented a medallion and certificate by Dr. Thad Anglin, president of the college.

She was nominated for the award by Zack Frizzell, Director of Performing Arts at Cisco College.

“Miss Murk has shown a true passion for theatre, and a fierce dedication to maintaining high grades in each of her courses,” Frizzell said.

“While Only Freshman, she has already earned several leading roles in our productions and has secured for herself the position of Student Director of Marketing and Recruiting,” he said. “She goes above and beyond to advocate for the theatre program, and we are grateful to have her.”

Emily’s most recent performance was the star role of Alice in the Theatre Department’s production of “Alice in Wonderland: Down the Rabbit Hole,” a modern adaptation by Mark Landon Smith.

She plans to attend Texas State University in the future.

The President’s Outstanding Student Award is coordinated by the college’s Faculty Senate.
