Murder Mystery to help fund Vittles program
By Donnie A. Lucas
Anyone who likes a murder mystery, proms, and bouffant hairdos from the 1980s should love the latest murder mystery dinner theater performance set for Feb. 11.
Hosted by Resource Care in Albany, tickets are on sale for the third annual who-done-it dinner theater performed by members of the Albany Mainstreet Playhouse at the Whitney Theater.
The fundraiser benefits the local Vittles by Vehicles program that feeds about 40 senior citizens in the area three times per week.
Tickets are $70 each and include a three-course dinner, drinks, and entertainment. Tables for eight are also available for $500.
To buy tickets, contact either Mindy Ary or Ragan Riley at ResourceCare, 325-762-2447, or call Ary on cell phone at 254-459-8785 or Riley at 214-663-3271.
The play is entitled “Totally Rad: 80s Prom Gone Bad.” Those who attend can come intheir best (worst) 80s attire.
“Everyone is encourage to dress up in 1980s fashion – the bigger the hair. the better,” said Riley. “Everyone needs to be aware that the show starts the minute they walk into the Whitney. Everything that they see or hear could be a clue to help solve the mystery.”
Riley also urged anyone who has not attended one of the shows to give it a try.
“It’s almost like playing a big interactive game of Clue,” she said.
The meal will feature Beef Tenderloin cooked by George Harvick, with The Green Gypsy, a local drink vendor, serving up 80s inspired cocktails..
The cast of Albany Mainstreet Playhouse will prove the night laughs and intrigue, including Pam Davis as the mean girl, Sandy Abel as the popular and lovable Prom Queen, and Ragan Riley, the wide-eyed ballet dancer. Also, Wade Jones as the class clown, Shawn Sutton as the jock, Henry Kelly as the rebel, and in her debut, Christina Daugherty as an overachieving goody-two-shoes.
“Come join us for the fun and help a great cause,” Riley said. “Wear big hair, bright colors, and use gnarly lingo like...totally tubular and far out.”
