Mothers Day Out visits library

Children aged 3 to 5 attending the Mothers Day Out childcare program at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church enjoyed a St. Patrick’s Day-themed excursion Friday, March 8 to the Shackelford County Library.

Director Meg Walser said Friday’s trip was part of monthly visits to the local library.

“The library staff read us the cutest St. Patrick’s Day story about a leprechaun,” Walser said. “They also provided us with sticker leprechaun crafts that the kids just thoroughly enjoyed. They had the library decorated in a St. Patrick’s theme with little leprechaun footprints and mischievous doings all over the library.”

MothersDayOutserves children between ages 1 and 5 with sessions from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at MMPC.

In addition to monthly library excursions, Mothers Day Out conducts two field trips during the school year.

“I try to do a big fall field trip per class and a big spring field trip per class,” Walser said.

Last fall, the 3-year-olds and the 4- and 5-year-olds took separate trips to the Grace Museum in Abilene for its Toddler Time program.

“Wetouredthemuseum and did a craft,” Walser said. “With the little kids, the 1- and 2-year-olds, we visitedtheDonutShopand the city park.”
