More funds needed for tunnel

The Albany Athletic Booster Club has raised $2,900 of the $5,400 needed to purchase a new inflatable for students to run through at the start of games and other events, and club members are hoping that a raffle will bring in the rest of the funding.

Tickets are currently being sold for a football signed by the Lions’ varsity players.

The tickets are priced at $3 each, or two tickets for $5, and are available at home varsity games.

Drawing for the winning ticket will take place during the upcoming Homecoming weekend.

Run-Through Plans

The 25-foot-tall “A” will sport the Albany Lion logo. It will replace the football helmet inflatable that was retired because it sprang a leak significant enough that the Booster Club decided it was not worth trying to fix.

“The great thing about this piece is that, unlike the helmet, it can be used for all sports or AISD activities, not just football,” said Logan Neve, who is helping with the fundraising efforts. “We are looking forward to seeing it at all kinds of events.”

The “A” has been ordered from Inflatable Design Group.

Half of the total purchase amount was put down in order to start production. The balance must be paid before shipment, currently scheduled for Oct. 4.

“We are hoping to have it by Oct. 12, for our Homecoming game,” said club officer Stephen Kayga.

Donations for the new inflatable are still being sought, and can be left at either local bank or the school, designated for Albany Athletic Booster Club Tunnel, or given to a Booster Club member.
