Moran VFD plans ‘Fall Fun in the Park’ Oct. 20

The Moran Volunteer Fire Department received $223 in donations at a fill-the-boot fundraiser Saturday, according to assistant fire chief Tyler George.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all that donated, and all those who continue to support our small department,” said member Michelle Taggart. “Anytime we have an event or fundraiser, we have a great turnout and everyone has a great time.”

The money will be used to pay for CPR training and certification for the VFD members, said chief Steve Taggart.

Members of the general public would typically have to pay if they wanted to take a CPR class, but they can attend this one at a discounted rate.

The date for the class has not been finalized.

Fun in the Park

The Moran VFD will host “Fall Fun in the Park” at the Moran City Park on Saturday, Oct. 20.

“We are trying to get something fun put together, especially since we don’t have a big fall festival,” said firefighter Jeff Martin. “Come on out and join us! We’ll have a hot dog eating contest and a pepper eating contest.”

Local band Southern Trail will begin performing at 6:00 p.m.

Members of the VFD will be selling hot dogs for $1, sausage wraps for $2, and will also have chips, drinks, and sweets for sale.

“Parents, dress up the kids in their Halloween costumes,” said Michelle Taggart. “There will be activities, and trunk or treating, as well as a bounce house. At dark we will have a hayride though town.”

Playground Set

Shirley Babin has asked for volunteers to help install the playground equipment that was donated to Moran by the City of Albany.

Workdays have been set for Saturday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 13.
