Moran supt. receives national honor
By Sam Waller
Moran ISD superintendent Dr. John Denson was selected recently to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree.
“I’m very honored to be nominated for it and to receive it,” Denson said.
The award is given to those who advance agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment, according to a news release from the National FFA Organization.
Denson will receive the award Friday, Nov. 3, during the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis. Recipients will receive a plaque and medal, and their names will be permanently recorded as recipients of the highest FFA honor.
“We’ll have five officers and two recipients of the American Degree (Johnnie Hise and Hannah Rogers),” Denson said. “It’s going to be an honor to receive mine along with the first two ever from Moran.”
The Honorary American FFA Degree is an opportunity to recognize those who have gone beyond valuable daily contributions to make an extraordinary long-term difference in the lives of students, inspiring confidence in a new generation of agriculturists.
