Students at the Moran Independent School District have two more weeks of summer vacation before classes start on Monday, Aug. 26, but the new school year officially began today for the staff.

Teachers were assigned book study for today and tomorrow, offering them some flexibility on scheduling as long as each of them is ready to present their part of the material to their peers on Monday, Aug. 12.

Staff development days are set for Aug. 12-16 and Aug. 19-23.

Registration

Moran ISD is currently accepting transfer students for all grade levels.

“We didn’t have any new transfers this week, so we are still hoping to get around 10 more transfers before school starts,” said MISD superintendent Danny Freeman. “We would like our enrollment numbers to be around 120.”

Meet the Bulldogs/Open House

The 2019-2020 cross country, football, and volleyball teams will be introduced to everyone who comes to the school to Meet the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Open House and Meet the Teacher will follow at 5:30 p.m.

Ice cream will be served at the event.

School Starts

Students at MISD will begin the school year at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.

Classes release at 4:00 p.m.

The first week of classes includes an optional/required fifth day on Friday, Aug. 30, with a 12:00 noon release for those that attend.

MISD will be off for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.
