Moran students finish semester Dec. 20

Moran students have made it to the end of the fall semester with A+Academic University Interscholastic League meets, basketball games, and a visit from Santa all crowded into the end of the third six-weeks period.

Santa arrived at MISD for an early morning breakfast and visited with children on Friday, Dec. 14, in time to hear their wish lists and check with their teachers to see if they qualify for the “nice” list.

Holiday Break

Moran students will be released for the Christmas holidays at 12:30 p.m. this Thursday, Dec. 20.

Friday, Dec. 21 is a student holiday and teacher comp day.

MISD will be closed for the Christmas break from Dec. 24 through Jan. 4.

Classes will resume at the normal times on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.

UIL District Meets

Moran competes in academics in District 20-A along with Baird, Clyde Eula, Gordon, Ranger, and Strawn, and both the elementary and the middle school district meets were scheduled this month.

Second through fifth graders competed in the district UIL meet in Strawn on Thursday, Dec. 6.

However last week’s middle school meet, scheduled to take place in Gordon on Thursday, Dec. 13 was delayed because of the weather, and results from that meet were not available as of press time.

“I am very proud of how hard the students studied and practiced over the last several weeks,” said MISD elementary UIL coordinator Jo Hise. “They represented Moran ISD very well. I am very thankful for the great staff that we have here, that gave of their time to help the students be successful.”

Middle School

Several Moran students were entered in the district middle school UIL A+Academic meet, including sixth grade students Electra McGough, Reagan Ethridge, Ayden Moreno, Ellis Hise, Blake Boykin, AJ Hebel, and Cotten Campbell.

Also representing MISD are seventh graders Zech Henderson, Jaylen Ethridge, Brooke Orsak, Terra Thompson, Caleb York, and Joshua Lorenzana.
