Harmony Slaughter and Arren Hawley were crowned queen of the Winter Formal as Moran High School students celebrated the end of the fall semester.
The event, which was sponsored by Moran’s senior class, was held Dec. 18 at the Moran Community Center.
Moran principal Jo Hise said the formal event was open to all high school students and drew about 35 attendees, including a number of out-of-town guests.
“We had a good number show up, and they had a good time,” she said.
Hise said the event allowed students to relax and socialize at the end of the semester.
“It helped the climate and the culture of the school,” she said. “The kids could be a part of a good time.”
Stock Show Plans
Moran will have 23 students exhibiting animals at the Shackelford County stock show Jan. 20-22.
To help accommodate the participants, Moran’s district basketball games against Rising Star will be played at home. Rising Star will now host games on Feb. 8, which was supposed to be the Lady Bulldogs’ senior night.
Staff Development
The Moran faculty and staff set the stage for the spring semester on Monday with a staff development day.
Moran superintendent Dr. John Denson said special education was one of the main topics discussed regarding curriculum.
“We’re trying to make sure we’re on top of our game with our special ed students,” he said. “We want to fill their needs the best we possibly can.”
Back To School
Moran resumed classes Tuesday, starting a new six weeks with the beginning of the spring semester.
“We’re trying get back in a routine,” Hise said.
