According to Teresa King at Moran City Hall, local residents are ready to get “back on track” from coronavirus shelter in place precautions when rule changes allow that to take place.

Governor Greg Abbott had already relaxed some of the restrictions on church services, with restaurants and some other businesses across the state allowed to open to the public on Friday, May 1, as long as they observe the newly lowered capacity limits, increased disinfecting of surfaces, and follow social distancing protocols.

“On Sunday, the First Baptist Church held Sunday school and a regular church service, along with broadcasting it online,” said King. “The owners of Pizza Mark have been painting and sprucing up the inside while they were waiting for the opportunity to open up inside dining again. The bank is open but following social distancing guidelines.”

According to King, the bank in Moran does not have a drive through window, so they have been allowing only one person at a time into the lobby.

City Hall remains closed to the public except by appointment.

According to mayor Steve Taggart, who was contacted at press time on Tuesday afternoon, Moran has not had any positive cases of COVID-19.
