Red Ribbon Events

Moran ISD principal Jo Hise reported that the district is observing Red Ribbon Week this week.

Monday’s theme was “I won’t get mixed up with drugs” and students were encouraged to wear mixed-up clothes. On Tuesday, students dressed as their future career with the theme being “Follow your dreams – Don’t do Drugs.”

Wednesday was a “Color War” for the theme “Be Bold – Stand against drugs.” Seniors wore black; juniors wore hot pink; sophomores wore lime; freshmen wore orange; eighth grade wore dark gray; seventh grade wore yellow; sixth grade wore gold; fourth and fifth grades wore gray, third grade wore purple; first and second grades wore blue; and pre-K and kindergarden wore red.

Thursday’s theme is “Lei off drugs,” and students are to dress as tacky tourists.

Red Ribbon Week will wrap up on Friday with the theme “Drugs will come back and haunt you,” and students will wear school appropriate costumes.

Moran Football

Moran played Lueders-Avoca last Friday, Oct. 23.

“We started out great against Lueders, but then a couple of penalties called against us killed any momentum that we had,” said John Hughes, athletic director for Moran ISD.

The Bulldogs lost two touchdowns due to penalties, but ended up losing the contest 51-0, according to the coach.

Hughes said that overall, the Bulldogs played hard, and there were some positives that came out of the game.

“We have been dealing with playing a lot of freshmen this year, and they showed some of their potential,” stated Hughes.

Moran comes up against another tough team this week as they travel to Throckmorton, the team expected to be the district champions.

The game has been moved to Thursday night following the junior high game that begins at 5:00 p.m.

Lady Bulldogs

The Lady Bulldogs concluded their season on Saturday morning against Ranger. They were defeated in three sets; 18-25, 21-25 and 16-25.

Moran ISD principal and coach Jo Hise said the junior high team would wrap up their season Monday night as they traveled to face Woodson.

Cross Country

The district cross country meet has been postponed until Saturday morning, Oct. 31.

The Moran varsity girls will run at 9:00 am in Eula.
