Moran Independent School District earned a rating of “Met Standard” from the Texas Education Agency, with an overall score of 67 out of 100.

“Because Moran ISD is a very small single campus district, we will not be subject to the new A-F system until 2019,” said superintendent Danny Freeman.

Moran was given “Met Standard” performance rating in all three areas, Student Achievement (70 out of 100), School Progress (69 out of 100), and Closing the Gaps (60 out of 100).

“Our little school district is happy to have ‘Met Standard’ in this year’s accountability system and will continue to strive to for improvement each and every year,” said Freeman. “We are pleased that the hard work of our students, parents, and staff continue to enable our district to meet standards set forth by the Texas Education Agency.”

Freeman added that testing is not the only way that success should be measured.

“We measure success in a variety of ways, and definitely not solely on the results of a single mandated STAAR Testing cycle which is the basis of the new A-F system,” he said. “Success in Moran ISD is also found in the character development, patriotism, civic values, extra-curricular and co-curricular programs afforded to all our students. Moran ISD will continue to provide every available opportunity for our students to be successful in all that we have to offer and encourage excellence in all that we do.”

Moran has a 100 percent graduation rate.

“We take a lot of pride in that,” Freeman said. “Our high graduation rate also continues to help us in the accountability picture.”
