By Sam Waller
Moran students spent the week building up spirit for homecoming weekend with a series of dress-up days.
The week started with the patriotic ’Merica Monday, followed by the Hawaiian-themed Tiki Tuesday and Pajama Day on Wednesday. Thursday (today) is Hippie Day, and Friday is Spirit Day, with students sporting Moran’s school colors of purple and gold.
The weekend will honor classes from 1946 and 1947 (75th anniversary), 1971 and 1972 (50th) and 1996 and 1997 (25th).
“We’re looking forward to seeing people we don’t see except every two years, especially the people who have to travel from out of town or out of state,” said Moran principal Jo Hise, a member of Moran’s class of 1994. “Everybody loves to be able to catch up with them.”
A community pep rally is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. with alumni volleyball and flag football games to follow. Volleyball will start at 5:00 p.m. and football at 7:00 p.m. The games will match odd-numbered graduation years against even-numbered graduation years.
On Saturday, the Moran Lady Bulldogs volleyball team will get things started at 10:00 a.m. with a District 6-2A match against Ranger.
The Ex-Students Association will serve lunch at noon in the cafeteria and a Homecoming Assembly will be held in the auditorium at 1:00 p.m.
The homecoming football game will kick off at 5:00 p.m. at Bulldog Field with Moran taking on Lueders-Avoca.
The weekend will wrap up with a street dance from 8:00-11:30 p.m. downtown. Admission to the dance is $7 per person or $10 per couple.
