Moran to graduate 7 seniors May 24

Moran Independent School District will graduate seven high school seniors this week in the final event of the school year.

Commencement exercises will be held at 6:00 p.m.Friday,May24atCisco College.

Terra Thompson is this year’s valedictorian with TylerHalethesalutatorian.

Other members of the class of 2024 are Zech Henderson, Neveah Huskey, Danny O’Keefe, Bailey Schafer, and Caleb York.

Thompson has attended Moran schools since sixth grade after starting at Nancy Smith Elementary School. Among her activities have been serving as manager for volleyball, basketball, and track teams.ShecompetedinUIL academicsinnumbersense andcomputerapplications, qualifying for regional in thelatter.Shehasservedas secretary for the National Honor Society Chapter for two years.

Hale transferred to Moran as a junior from Midland Greenwood.Heplayed football and was active in FFA and NHS, serving as NHS vice president.

Seniors were feted with a baccalaureate ceremony Sunday, May 19. Herman Hinkle, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church of Breckenridge, gave the address.

Winding Down

Moran has had a busy final two weeks with a number of end-of-the-year activities. The final class day is Thursday, May 23.

ThefunstartedWednesday, May 15 with the elementary field day. Field trips scheduled for Thursday, May16werehampered by rain. A trip to Six Flags for seventh through 12th graders with perfect attendance waschangedtoavisit to the Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine.ThetriptoMT7 Ranch at Breckenridge for fourth through sixth graders was pushed to May 20.

The junior high-high school awards banquet was held Tuesday, May 21 with the FFA banquet Wednesday,May22.Alsoon Wednesday, a graduation walk for kindergartners and high school seniors washeld,followedbytheelementary awardsprogram.

Farm Bureau Program Three Moran students will attend the Texas Farm Bureau Student Success Series on May 29 at the TSTC Industrial Technology Center in Abilene.

The program gives students an opportunity to engage with community leaders in agriculture and western industries as well as gain insight into the free enterprise system.
