With the school year officially beginning for Moran students on Aug. 23, student and staff events are in full swing.

Cheer Camp

Moran varsity cheerleaders will begin cheer camp on Monday, Aug. 2.

The cheerleaders will practice from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. until Wednesday, Aug. 4.

According to cheerleader coach Liz Walls, the girls will learn new cheers, chants, stunts, and a new dance at the camp.

Walls commented that the cheerleaders held a bake sale fundraiser to fund this year’s camp.

Fall Sports

Principal Jo Hise stated that two-a-days for football, volleyball, and cross country will begin on Aug. 2.

Practices will be from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. for all athletes, and members of Moran First Baptist Church will serve lunch to players all week long.

The 2021 volleyball schedule will start with a game at Loraine Aug. 10, and the date of the first Bulldog football game is Aug. 27 against Benjamin.

Meet the Bulldogs

The 2021-2022 fall sport teams will be introduced to everyone who attends Meet the Bulldogs on Thursday, Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the school and the PTO will be selling hamburgers, hot dog baskets, and ice cream.

The cost of an ice cream serving is $1, and there will be an ice cream contest, according to Hise.

The PTO will also be raffling a spirit basket at the event.

Open House and Meet the Teacher will follow immediately afterwards.

School Info

The staff of Moran ISD will take a trip to Tarleton State University in Stephenville on Friday, Aug. 6, and staff development days will begin on Monday, Aug. 9.

Enrollment packets will be available after Aug. 2.

All students planning to attend Moran schools will need to pick up a packet.

Students who have not picked up a packet before “Meet the Teacher” can collect one at the event.

Students at MISD will begin the school year at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23.
