Although the 2019-2020 school year is underway for faculty at the Moran Independent School District, students will not begin classes until 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.

Staff development days are scheduled weekdays from Aug. 8-23, and teachers are undergoing mandatory training, preparing lesson plans, and readying their classrooms for the upcoming semester.

“We’ve had a teacher breakfast, a little one,” said administrative assistant Jeannie TenCate. “The annual First Financial Bank sponsored teacher breakfast is still coming up. It will be held at the school on Thursday, Aug. 22.”

Moran ISD is still accepting transfer students for all grade levels.

The district has hired Elizabeth Martin to join the MISD faculty. Martin is a Moran alumnus and recently graduated from West Texas A&M.

Budget Meeting

A meeting to discuss the MISD budget and to determine the tax rate will be held at 6:30 p.m. next Monday, Aug. 19 at the MISD auditorium.

The general public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.

Meet the Bulldogs/Open House

Meet the Bulldogs, Open House, and Meet the Teacher will take place at the MISD campus next Thursday, Aug. 22, starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs, coaches and cheerleaders will be introduced to the MISD family.

“Everyone ought to come out,” said superintendent Danny Freeman. “We’ll serve some good ice cream.”

Teachers and administrators will be on hand to visit with students and their parents at Open House and Meet the Teacher.

School Schedule

Students at MISD will begin the school year on Monday, Aug. 26.

The late bell rings at 8:00 a.m. every school day and classes release at 4:00 p.m. most days. The school day ends at 12:00 noon on optional/required fifth days.

The first Friday of the school year, Aug. 30, is one of the new optional/required fifth days.

Each month of the MISD school year includes one optional/required fifth day with the exception of May, which has three scheduled.

MISD will be off for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.

Student holidays are scheduled throughout the year.
