Moran Baccalaureate set Sunday

The school year is almost over and students at the Moran Independent School District are busy with a host of end-of year activities.

This Week

State mandated STAAR testing took place this week, including math and reading exams for students in third, fourth, sixth, and seventh grades, and science tests for fifth and eighth graders.

Eighth graders are taking the STAAR social studies exam today, May 16.

Senior students are preparing a slide show that will be presented at graduation.

Pre-K through second grade classes will go on a field trip on Friday, May 17.

The high school prom is set for Saturday, May 18, at the MISD Event Center.

Next Week

Baccalaureate for the Moran graduates will be held at First Baptist Church of Moran at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.

There will be a football scoreboard dedication ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20. 

“We want to show our appreciation to First Financial Bank for their generous gift,” said superintendent Danny Freeman. 

The Moran PTO meeting and annual membership drive will immediately follow the scoreboard dedication.

The regular monthly school board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the same evening, Monday, May 20.

Elementary field day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, followed by the MISD Spring Fling Festival next Thursday, May 23.

MISD will be closed on Friday, May 24 and Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day.

Graduation Week

Classes will release early on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31.

May 31 is the last day of the 2018-19 school year.

Commencement will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31.
