Moran ag teams compete

Moran FFA teams competed in meat judging and veterinary science contests Wednesday, March 27 at the Hill Country CDE in Fredericksburg.

In meat judging, Ellis Hise, Caleb York, and Cotten Campbell placed 14th out of 31 teams with a score of 1,532.

“Normally, that’d be a possible 300 points, but since they only had five classes, it was a possible 250,” Moran super intendent John Denson said.

Hise scored 242 with York getting 240 and Campbell 202.

In Retail ID, Hise scored 240 out of a possible 280.

The veterinary science team of Bradee Stautzenberger, Jayla Bussell, Chase Murk, and Kacenda Thompkins placed 25th out of 48 teams. Stautzenberger ranked 68th individually with a score of 740.

“This is only Bradee’s third contest,” Denson said. “She’s already scoring high.”

This weekend will see teams competing in their final contests before the Area IV contest. On Friday, April5,meatjudging, horse judging, and vet science will compete at Angelo State. The meat judging team will then compete Saturday, April 6 at Texas Tech.

The Area contests for horse judging and vet science will be Wednesday, April10atTarletonState. TheArea contest for meat judging will be Saturday, April 13 at Texas Tech.

Four Moran students will spend Thursday-Sunday,April 11-14 at the Braunvieh State Show in Wichita Falls. Zech Henderson, Mae Kayla Kersey, and Thompkins will show their heifers. York will take part in contests offered for youth members.

Prom Time

The Moran prom is scheduled for Saturday at the Moran Events Center, but the time is being delayed to accommodate students who will be in Lubbock that day.

The prom is open to all high school students and their dates.

“Anyone from outside thedistrictneedspriorapproval,” Moran principal Jo Hise said.

One-Act Play Moran’s One-Act Play castandcrewwillperform their UIL entry at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 at the school auditorium.
