Volunteers from Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church and the rest of the community served approximately 120 meals as part of the annual MMPC Christmas Feast.

Event organizer Tamara Trail said recipients of the meals were fairly evenly split between those who came to the church on Christmas Day and those who had food delivered, covering a broad spectrum of the community.

“We delivered between 60 and 65 meals,” Trail said. “We covered the Vittles by Vehicle route and then some who called in. We also took food  to our first responders and others who were working on Christmas Day.”

This was the 13th year for the project, which provides free holiday meals with all the trimmings.

Trail noted that none of the food prepared went to waste, even with plenty of leftovers.

“Whatever we have left is shared through another ministry here in town,” she said. “Lori Reames at Closet Angels usually knows of families that can use it.”

Trail thanked those who volunteered their time and efforts to make the event a success.
