Anyone who doesn’t have plans for lunch on Christmas Day Sunday is invited to attend the annual Christmas Feast set for 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church.

This is the 14th year that the church has provided a meal for the community on Dec. 25.

“It is intended to provide fellowship on Christmas Day for those who may not have family in town for the holidays, or for anyone regardless of the circumstances who would like to come join us,” Tamara Trail, one of the event organizers said.

This year’s menu will include ham, turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, gravy, and homemade desserts.

Lunch will be provided in-person at the church fellowship hall, along with to-go plates that can be picked up at the south entrance to the church’s educational building.

Deliveries will also be made to shut-ins that are normally served by Vittles by Vehicles. A limited number of deliveries to others who are unable to come to the church will also be made available, if delivery instructions are arranged in advance by contacting Sandy Ingalls at the church, 325-762-2038.

“This is a ministry effort by the church, and we want everyone to feel included,” Trail said. “We hope people will make this meal part of their holiday tradition.”

The food items have all been donated by members of the church, with Paul Hamilton and crew manning the turkey fryers.

“We are having a shortened morning service on Sunday that will end by 10:30 a.m., Trail said. “That will give members time to get in the kitchen and prepare to start serving.”

She added that the volunteers really encourage the community as a whole to join them for the meal.

“We would all really love it if we could share this meal together with the community,” she said.
