Moran Independent School District board is still awaiting approval to consider accepting a tax deferment proposal by a windmill company which intends to start a project south of Moran.

Part of the planned windmill farm will be in the MISD taxing district.

RWE Renewables Americas LLC claims to be one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, with around 3,500 employees. The company has applied for a value limitation agreement on property taxes for the first few years they are up and running.

 School Schedule

Following Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order, MISD will remain closed and continue remote learning for the remainder of the school year.

Superintendent Danny Freeman will deliver school packets and pick up finished work from students in Cisco, Breckenridge, and Albany each week. Freeman said he currently picks up on Friday but might move to Thursdays.

“Like other school districts, we are disappointed not to see our kids once again,” Freeman said. “We will continue to work on improving the remote learning process.”

Freeman also said graduation is still scheduled to take place on May 29. Where and how is up in the air, he said.

The MISD office is open most weekday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, and sporadically in the afternoons. The office number is 325-945-3109.

The superintendent can be reached by email at dfreeman@moran.esc14.net or by calling his cell phone, 325-660-3244.
