MISD students sort toys

 The canned food drive hosted by the Moran junior and senior classes is winding down this week. 

According to Moran ISD principal Jo Hise, the food drive has had a wonderful start.

“Last week, we collected 288 cans,” said Hise.

The third grade leads the contest with 105 cans.

Canned goods can be delivered to the school through the end of the week and will be delivered to local needy families. 

Toys For Tots

Moran juniors and seniors traveled to Breckenridge on Friday, Nov. 6 to assist Staff Sgt. Doug Beaty with the upcoming Toys for Tots campaign. 

Students helped set up tables and sorted toys. 

Lady Bulldog 

Basketball

The varsity girls basketball team will kick off their season this Saturday, Nov. 14. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Strawn with tip-off at 11:00 a.m. 

On Tuesday, the team heads to Blanket with start time scheduled for 6:00 p.m. 

Girls head coach John Hughes is looking forward to a strong team this season. 

“We return a majority of the girls’ team this year,” said Hughes.

Bulldog Basketball

The Moran Bulldogs will be starting a young team this year, according to Hughes. 

“The guys are young, but practices are going well,” said Hughes.

The Bulldogs kick off their season at Woodson next Friday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. 

The Bulldogs are coached by Robert Londer-holm. 

Junior High 

Basketball

The Moran junior high basketball teams also are practicing for their upcoming season. 

Both the junior high boys and girls will start their schedule on the road tonight against May. 

The girls will play first at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:00 p.m. 

The boys are coached by Matthew Hise and the girls are coached by John Hughes.
