MISD staff, students work online

The staff at the Moran Independent School District is working to meet the needs of their students, with lessons available online, by email, or by hard copy, and meals provided to local students by request.

“We are still supplying a few meals for students,” said superintendent Danny Freeman. “For those families that have requested meals, we are providing breakfast and lunch twice a week.”

The meals must be picked up at the school, and are available two times a week. Two breakfast meals and two lunches per participating student are handed out on each of those days.

Students with internet access should be able to get lessons on line. A hard copy of the assignments can be picked up at the school each week by families that do not have internet.

“We are delivering hard copies of the assignments to students in Breckenridge, Cisco, and Albany on Fridays,” said Freeman, “but I’m not sure how that will work in the future, with positive coronavirus cases in the area. We have ordered 30 Chromebooks for families who need them, and they should be here any day.”

Freeman added that the teachers have been encouraged to work from home if possible.

“If they have to come to school, I have directed them to confine themselves to their own classroom or office,” Freeman said.
