The faculty and staff of the Moran Independent School District got a jumpstart on in-service training by participating in team-building activities at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.

“We got off to an awesome start,” Moran superintendent Dr. John Denson said. “We participated in activities on (Tarleton’s) Challenge Course and kind of came together as a team to start the year.”

Denson said the purpose of the exercise was to help staff members get to know each other better and learn to support one another.

“They can find out each other’s strengths and weaknesses and be ready to step in and support somebody if they need help,” he said. “Or if they’re the one that needs some help, not be afraid to call for some.”

Denson, who is in his first year with the Moran school district, said his past experience with the program influenced him to have the school staff participate.

“This is my first time to actually take teachers to it,” he said. “When I was working on my superintendent’s certification and doctoral classes, my cohort went through one of these courses together. I always thought something like this would be good to do.”

Moran will begin classes on Aug. 23.

“We’re going to have a family atmosphere here, like it has always been,” Denson said. “We’re going to take care of our family.”
