MISD staff charts student progress

Moran ISD officials are taking a visual approach in helping students prepare for state-mandated testing.

Superintendent Dr. John Denson said a data room has been established to better chart student progress.

“We’ve got a secure room where we can put all our students’ progress on the walls to help them prepare for the STAAR tests,” Denson said. “It helps us figure out the individual needs of each student. We can determine if a student needs more help in reading, while another might need extra time in math.”

Moran principal Jo Hise said the approach allows teachers to better serve students’ needs.

“It helps us hone in on which reporting category of the test that they may have a particular struggle in so all of our students make progress,” she said.

Hise said Moran will administer practice tests beginning Monday, Jan. 31. STAAR tests will be taken in April and May.

Tractor Tech

Three Moran students will compete in the area tractor tech competition on Friday, Jan. 28, at Tarleton State in Stephenville.

Cotten Campbell, Ellis Hise, and Caleb York comprise the Moran team.

Twin Day

Moran will have a Twin Day celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

“That date will be 02/02/2022,” Hise said. “We’re going to let everyone dress up as twins for that day and do some different activities just for fun.”
