MISD resumes classes, girls defeat JCSA 39-15

The Moran Independent School District resumed classes after the holiday break on Monday, Jan. 4.

The next scheduled holiday for the district is Martin Luther King Day on Monday, Jan. 18 followed by Friday, Jan. 22 for the Shackelford County Livestock Show. 

Lady Bulldog 

Basketball

The varsity girls basketball team hosted the Johnson County Sports Association on Wednesday, Dec. 30. The Lady Bulldogs came away with their first win of the season with a score of 39-15 over JCSA. The win brings the Lady Bulldog’s record to 1-5.

Hannah Noble was the leading scorer with 21 points followed by Emily Murk with eight points and Chloe Hendricks with four points. Alli Scott, Tiffany Wade and Hannah Rogers each added two points to the final score. 

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to May to start district play on Tuesday, Jan. 5. 

Results were not available at press time. 

Bulldog Basketball

The Moran Bulldogs lost to Lueders Avoca 23-17 on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Aaren Hawley led the scoring with 11 points followed by Cory Miller with six points. 

The Bulldogs were scheduled to host Perrin-Whitt on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Results were not available at press time. 

Junior High 

Basketball

Both the girls and boys junior high teams have enjoyed a long break from the court. 

The teams are scheduled to be back in action hosting May on Monday, Jan. 11.
