Moran ISD enrollment packets will be available after Monday, Aug. 1, according to school officials.

All students planning to attend Moran school in the 2022-23 school year will need to pick up a packet from the MISD office.

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 8 at Moran, which is employing a four-day class week this year.

Principal Jo Hise said students from outside the district will need to provide an immunization record, a birth certificate, and a copy of their social security card in order to get a packet.

On Thursday, Aug. 4, Moran will hold “Meet the Bulldogs” and “Meet the Teacher” activities. Starting at 5:00 p.m., PTO members will serve hamburgers at the football field concession stand. “Meet the Bulldogs” will start at 5:30 p.m. on the football field with “Meet the Teacher” following at 6:00 p.m.

“Students can pick up enrollment packets at 6:00 p.m. during ‘Meet the Teacher’,” Hise said.

FFA Convention

On Friday, July. 14, Moran FFA finished its week at the Texas FFA State Convention in Fort Worth.

On Wednesday, July 12, Moran graduates Hannah Rogers and Johnnie Hise received their Texas FFA Lone Star degrees, the highest of membership the State FFA Association can award. Moran’s only previous recipient was Danny Connally in 1955.

In addition, chapter officers Cotten Campbell, Ellis Hise, Allen Hebel, and Caleb York worked behind the scenes at the Texas FFA Rodeo.

“Moran FFA received compliments over the last few days from more people than I could imagine,” Moran superintendent Dr. John Denson said. “People in the rodeo business, stock contractors, judges, and event directors all day long were telling me how well Moran kids worked.”

Future Teachers

Following the FFA convention, Denson attended the Texas Association of Future Educators state convention.

“I am learning how to start a TAFE chapter in Moran,” Denson said.

Bulldog Camp

Moran FFA members will host an introductory camp for incoming seventh grade members on Aug. 4.

“Tarleton has Duck Camp, and A&M has Fish Camp,” Denson said. ”We’re going to have Bulldog Camp It will cover more than just ag, because it’s a step going from middle school to junior high.”

Looking For Students

Moran ISD will accept transfer students from other area districts for the upcoming school year.

“As long as we can get them to school, we’ll take them,” Denson said, noting that Moran has accepted students from Albany, Anson, Baird, Breckenridge, and Cisco in the past.
