MISD to observe holiday Jan. 20

School holidays, stock shows, cheer tryouts, and basketball games are all scheduled to take place over the next few weeks.

Friday, Jan. 17 is an optional/required fifth day for Moran students.

On Monday, Jan. 20 the Moran Independent School District will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Another optional/required fifth day will take place on Friday, Feb. 14, followed by a school holiday for Presidents’ Day on Monday Feb. 17.

SCYLA Stock Show

Several Moran students will be showing project animals at the upcoming Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show. 

Goat, sheep, and swine will be weighed in on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 24. The various animal classes will take place on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26. 

The sale is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 26.

Cheer Meeting

There will be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 for all those interested in representing Moran as mascots, varsity cheerleaders, or junior high cheerleaders for the 2020-2021 school year. 

Students interested in trying out must bring a parent or guardian with them to the meeting at the MISD auditorium.
