MISD graduates 4 seniors, dates set for summer class

Moran’s Class of 2022 held commencement ceremonies Friday, May 27 at Bulldog Field.
Former Moran superintendent Danny Freeman gave the commencement address as four seniors received their diplomas as well as scholarships from the Snyder family.
The Ralph Snyder Scholarship of $1,000 went to valedictorian Johnnie Hise.
The Maurice Snyder Scholarship of $750 went to salutatorian Hannah Rogers.
Harmony Slaughter received the $500 Mary Anna Snyder Scholarship, and Arren Hawley received the $500 Sam Snyder Scholarship.
“We had a senior slide show afterwards in the auditorium,” Moran superintendent Dr. John Denson said. “Myra Hise made us a nice cake and punch for afterwards.”
On Thursday, May 26, Moran held commencement exercises for six kindergarten students and seven eighth graders. Jayla Bussell was named eighth grade valedictorian, and Chase Murk was eighth grade salutatorian.
Summer School
Moran will conduct summer school starting Tuesday, June 7. Summer classes will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through June 30.
Summer school is open to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. John Denson said students can make up attendance requirements as well as make academic progress.
“We’re trying to close some gaps, help some kids who might need intervention, and give them a little bit of accelerated instruction with an animal theme,” he said. “At the end, we’re going to take them to Fossil Rim at Glen Rose.”
2022-23 School Year
Moran will hold teacher in-service Monday, Aug. 1. The first day of class will be Monday, Aug. 8.
Moran will employ a four-day class week for the coming school year.
Summer Workouts
Moran will conduct summer conditioning workouts beginning Monday, June 6.
Workout sessions will be 8:00-10:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday for six weeks in June and July. A break will be taken the first week of July, then workouts will resume Monday, July 11, and conclude Thursday, July 21.
