MISD end-of-year events accelerate

Moran Independent School District students have a host of activities during their last week of school next week. 

MISD students and staff participated in the ResourceCare spring Health Fair last Friday, and there have also been several other field trips in recent weeks.

This Week

On Monday, May 17, the Moran ISD school board met to officially hire a new superintendent and to elect officers. 

The MISD trustees  hired Dr. John Denson to replace current superintendent Danny Freeman, who is retiring at the end of June. 

The board also elected officers for the year. Sug Roller was re-elected as president, Alice Branham remains vice president, and Gary Roan will continue as secretary.

State-mandated ­STAAR testing continued May 18 through May 20 for many of the grades.

The junior high and high school awards banquet will be held on Thursday, May 20 at the Moran Event Center.

Final Week of School

The Baccalaureate service for Moran’s six graduating seniors will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Moran First Baptist Church.

An elementary trip to the zoo is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25.

On Thursday, May 27, elementary students will participate in a track and field day followed by the end of year awards ceremony.

Kindergarten and eighth grade graduations are Thursday, May 27.

The last day of school is set for Friday, May 28. The 2021 graduation ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. that night and will be held in the MISD gymnasium.
