Registration for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year is underway in Moran, and a special survey is being sent out this week.

Superintendent Danny Freeman said Tuesday that he plans to canvass parents about getting the school year underway in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“In the survey, we will let families know what precautions the district is taking and will be taking to have students return safely to a school environment,” said Freeman. “But the main thing we want to know is if parents are going to be comfortable sending their kids back to the classroom.”

The school year for Moran ISD is scheduled to start Aug. 24, but Freement said that the date could possibly be moved up earlier in the month.

Parents are urged to fill out the survey in the next few days, as well as pick up registration documents.

“Enrollment packets are ready, and parents are welcome to swing by and pick them up whenever the office is open,” said administrative assistant Jeannie Ten Cate. “Everybody, including current students, needs to fill out a packet. A handful of completed packets have already been turned back in.”

The Moran Independent School District office  hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
