Ministry provides formal wear

Sweet Repeats Ministry  offers free use of formal attire “for gals and guys” in Shackelford County and the surrounding area.

The ministry, an offshoot of Closet Angels, is operated by Tammy McBee out of First Christian Church, 201 S. Walnut St.

The ministry provides formal wear for proms, weddings, dances, and other special events.

McBee said the project has an extensive inventory of clothing including dresses, suits, and accessories.

“We even have shoes,” McBee said, “lots of shoes.”

The items have all been donated.

“People donate prom dresses, wedding gowns, shoes, anything that’s formal,” McBee said. “I have people who donate bow ties and suits, and I had a lady give some fancy gloves.”

McBee said the ministry will continue to accept clothing donations.

“We accept anything that’s appropriate for formal wear or prom,” she said. “Or you can donate money for the clothes to be cleaned.”

Selections include at least 200 prom dresses, about 30 wedding gowns, and around 100 men’s suits, with dressing areas available.

“Our dresses for prom range from XXS to 3X,” McBee said. “And I have long and short, flowing on the floor to short short.”

Accessories include ties, suspenders, and tuxedo shoes for men as well as some jewelry for women.

“We have lots of shoes, all sizes, both men’s and ladies,” McBee said. “And we also have undergarments and purses.”

There is no age restriction or cost to borrow the clothing, though McBee said donations to cover the cost of dry cleaning are appreciated.

“Call me or text me and I’ll set up an appointment,” she said.
