Students, teachers and staff at Moran have settled into a new way of doing things through the first two weeks of the new school year.

Principal Jo Hise said the school district is employing block scheduling in the upper grades this year.

“The first week went well,” Hise said. “The kids, teachers, and staff seem to be adjusting to our new schedule really well. I’m very pleased with that.”

Under the block schedule, students have four 90-minute classes each day. Classes are held Monday-Wednesday (A schedule) and Tuesday-Thursday (B schedule). Fridays will alternate between the A and B schedules.

“There are four classes and an athletic period every day,” Hise said. “I think they did this several years ago, but this is my first go with it.”

Going to State

Eight Moran students will compete for a state championship next month  when they take part in the Texas High School State Horseshoe Tournament.

Cotten Campbell, Connor Hail, Aaren Hawley, Zech Henderson, Ellis Hise, Aydan Moreno, Bailey Schafer, and Caleb York will represent the school at the tournament, which is scheduled for Oct. 9 in Weatherford, with more details to be available later.
