MHS play cast earns recognition

Four members of Moran’s One-Act Play cast and crew earned honors Tuesday, March 5 at the District 13-1A contest at Abilene Wylie.

Moran performed “The Betrothed” by Jerome Mc-Donough with Josh Ross directing.

Allthreemembersofthe cast, along with one crew member received honors. Kacenda Thompkins was named outstanding technical crew member, while Chelsea Thurman and Chase Murk were named to the All-Star Cast. Cast member Jayla Bussell received honorable mention.

Bussell played Vera, while Murk played Marty and Thurman had the role of Helen.

Thompkins served as the lighting technician with LeAnna Sikes on sound and Bradee Stautzenberger as stage hand.

Judging Contests

Meat and horse judging teams from Moran FFA competed in contests at the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo.

On Saturday, March 2, meat judging placed 114th at Clear Falls. On Sunday, March 3, the team of Ellis Hise, Cotten Campbell, and Caleb York was 31st with Kielar Carr, Rayni Vinson, and Miguel Rodriguez 63rd at the stock show.

On Monday, March 4, horse judging placed 139th after a late lineup change.

“Rayni Vinson had a very impressive score for her first contest,” Dr. John Denson said. “This is the second time we have asked Rayni to fill in for another student in FFA competition, and she totally exceeded all expectations.”
