Moran’s one-act play cast and crew will attend a workshop Friday, Feb. 17 at Clyde to prepare for district competition, scheduled for for Monday, Feb. 27 at Abilene Wylie.

Moran is performing “Little Women,” adapted from the novel by Louisa May Alcott, under the direction of teacher Bryce Hughes.

FFA News

Three Moran FFA students exhibited hogs at the San Angelo Stock Show this week.

Cotten Campbell showed a gilt on Sunday, Feb. 12, while Ellis Hise showed a barrow on Tuesday, and Allen Hebel showed a barrow on Thursday (today).

“They’re the first students from Moran in some time to be entered in a major show as Moran FFA,” Denson said. “We’ve had kids go as 4-H members in the past.”

Moran’s meat judging team will compete in contests Saturday at San Angelo and Sunday at San Antonio.

Lost Days

Moran ISD is still formulating its plan for making up class time because of the winter storm earlier this month, although administrators are hopeful that the state will “forgive” those days.

The district closed school for three days and had one early release day because of the icy weather Feb. 6-9.

Moran principal Jo Hise said the district may have to make up two days after having some extra time built into the schedule.

Hise said makeup dates will not interfere with Moran’s spring break, scheduled for March 13-17.

FCA All-Star

Moran senior Emily Murk has been selected for the 2023 Big Country FCA All-Star Festival as a cheerleader.

Murk will perform at the volleyball and football all-star events, scheduled for June 10 in Abilene.
