Moran junior and senior classes are hosting a canned food drive over the next two weeks for needy families in the community.

“The collected cans will be donated to the Moran Food Bank, and applications for food can be obtained at the Food Bank,” according to Jo Hise, contact person for the food drive.

Anyone wishing to donate food/canned goods can drop them off in the school office.

Moran Football

Moran varsity and junior high football teams both played Throckmorton last Thursday, Oct. 29.

The junior high team came away with a 50-26 win.

“Ellis Hise had a great game, but other guys contributed as well,” said athletic director John Hughes.

The varsity Bulldogs lost 62-0, finishing out their season 0-10.

“It wasn’t the year we wanted, but with injuries and other issues, we were hindered all season,” Hughes stated. “The young guys on the team got a lot of experience this year, which I wasn’t expecting,” said Hughes.

Moran loses one senior, Corey Miller.

Lady Bulldogs

Moran ISD principal and coach Jo Hise said the junior high volleyball team wrapped up its season Saturday, losing to Woodson in two sets. Scores were not available.

Cross Country

Moran had seven varsity girls compete in the district cross country meet on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Eula.

Dariann Hawley finished 11th with a time of 14:45. Johnnie Hise was 12th with 14:47, while Emily Murk was 18th, Chloe Hendricks 22nd, Harmony Slaughter 26th, Hannah Rogers 27th, and Tiffany Wade 28th.

Daphani Crews and Terra Thompson ran at the JV level, with Crews finishing first and Thompson finishing second.

Coach Hise was proud of how hard the ladies ran.

“It is difficult to compete in two simultaneous sports, but the ladies give everything they have to be successful,” Hise added.
